A holiday in a tropical getaway is just the ticket to help you relax and de-stress after many weeks of work. Bali attractions are numerous, and you may want to spend more than a few days there, so that you have a chance to take more of the sights in. Bali has been called the best island for touring and sight-seeing, whether you want to pick up on some of the local culture, or play beach sports and scuba dive.
Bali is blessed with wonderful native islanders, who are friendly and welcoming to visitors. It offers natural beauty in its lush forests and warm, sandy beaches. Kuta Beach is one of the more popular Bali tourist attractions, since it has great waves for beginning surfers, and inexpensive clubs and bars to visit after the sun sets over the water.
One of the most popular attractions in Bali is the Tanah Lot temple. It was created centuries ago, and is an imposing sight, perched atop a large rock and surrounded by the sea. It’s only a 30 minute drive from the Kuta area, so it’s one spot that most Bali visitors check out first.
Spending time in Ubud is a gift for the mind as well as the soul. It features many temples and art galleries. In addition, the museums on the island feature native Balinese art, and modern art, as well. You can purchase works of art by local artists in Bali’s art galleries.
Another of the most interesting attractions in Bali is the Kecak Performance & Fire Dance. You can get tickets almost anywhere around Ubud, and the performances at Pura Dalem are unforgettable.
If you need some down time to relax, check out Nusa Dua, which is a resort area with sandy white beaches and lovely hotels. The water is clear and welcoming. You may also wish to visit the Museum Pasifika while you’re in Nusa Dua, to see art from many Pacific islands.
The holiest of Balinese temples, Pura Besakih, has three temples in the main area and 18 other sanctuaries, which are smaller. Each individual temple holds a special festival every year, and they are quite a sight. Besakih is the largest temple in Bali, and it’s situated on the side of the largest mountain in Bali, Mount Agung.
Batubulan is an intriguing spot to visit. It is just north of Denpasar and is the area where most of Bali’s sandstone carvings are made. You can find thousands of different types of carvings from animals to wall plaques to traditional religious figures. You can even relax and watch the local villagers at work.
If your friends have told you about their favorite tourist attractions in Bali, they may well include the coral reefs of Menjangan Island. The scuba diving there is quite amazing, with the island’s well-preserved coral reefs. There is good underwater visibility, and the currents are not as strong as in some other dive locations, so it’s better for beginners.
National parks are a wonderful place to step back and see the beauty that nature has to offer. Whether you relish the view of volcanoes or the stepped rice paddies, you can hike or backpack in areas that are still more like wilderness. You’ll forget you’re at such a popular tourist destination when you walk back into nature for awhile.
If you are up for an early morning adventure, one of the most fantastic Bali attractions is climbing Mt. Batur and experiencing the volcanoe at sunrise. This is truly a sight that you will never forget, with the dark climb and the cloud-wreathed volcanoe appearing at dawn.
